The Discovery RE scheme has been integrated with Birmingham Agreed Syllabus, to ensure all objectives are covered and a range of religions looked at.
Religious Education is taught discreetly, Discovery RE provides an enquiry-based question for each half term for each year group and has Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development opportunities as well as British Values. There is also the opportunity for Speaking and Listening skills to be developed through discussions and debates. Each year group works through units of work and completes an end of unit assessment to assess where children are with their learning. The children and staff have access to well-resourced boxes with Religious artefacts for each religion covered allowing children to have first-hand experiences of religions to aid their enquiry of learning.
