Kitwell pupil’s experiences outside of school vary, in terms of physical exercise and opportunities. Some pupils participate in daily outdoor activities; some compete in weekly sporting events outside of school and attend various clubs whilst others spend their time indoors. As educators, it is our responsibility to offer a variety of engaging opportunities to teach our children the importance of following a healthy balanced lifestyle which promotes positive physical and mental wellbeing.
Through discreet PE lessons children are taught personal and social skills such as; team work, self-belief, communication and cooperation whilst also learning fundamental skills which improve physical development. Physical skills are taught and applied to a variety of sports and games. Children are also taught to understand and improve their own mental well-being through specific yoga lessons, breathing techniques and meditation to enable them to have strategies which aid relaxation.
We also provide our children with a variety of competitive events at both intra and inter level. We promote positive sportsmanship and encourage our children to congratulate peers and enjoy their own successes.
We follow the Rising Stars Champions scheme of work for PE at Kitwell.
